“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt

I believe in a future where young minds can discover themselves, embrace their uniqueness, and become better versions of themselves.

About two weeks ago, I announced our project aimed at empowering the girl child, and this event took place last week Saturday.

This project was birthed as a result of the assignments we were given in my ongoing mentorship programme by the Daughters’ Dream initiative.

School Girls

We were all told to carry out personal or group projects to empower the girl child.

This was a beautiful opportunity, as this has always been something I have always wanted to do – impacting and shaping lives.

I took up the challenge, created a team, started the planning, and in just a week, the project was executed.

I thank God for making this a reality.

In just one week we were able to plan and implement this big project.

This article is being written to walk you through everything that happened, the impacts made and the testimonials gotten from the participants, and this will bless you.

Our project was tagged “Educate a girl, empower a generation”.

This theme was used in order to explain our aim, which is to empower girl children through education and leadership.

This project was carried out on Saturday, 31st of May, 2025, at 9am in Standard High School, Moro, Osun State, with a total of 38 students in attendance.

This project wasn’t just one that was carried out because we just wanted to carry it out; no, it was carried out because of the passion we have towards ensuring that young people live better lives.

We had different sessions ranging from the interclass debate competition to health and wellness talks to motivational talks to awareness against bullying, affirmations, games and lots more.

The best two debaters were given scholarships (one from the junior class and one from the senior class) for a school session each.

This was done to encourage them that education is important and that they can be who they want to be because their voices are heard and that we believe in them.

All the debate participants were also given certificates to serve as a reminder that they can be more and that they can be who God has purposed them to be.

All the participants were also given exercise books and pens to encourage them that who they can become lies in the decisions they make and what they do with the resources they have.

Each of the sessions came with intentionality, and none was without impact because the facilitators came prepared.

The happiness on the faces of these young girls cannot be captured in words. The parents of these two students who were given scholarships couldn’t contain their joy, and we are happy that this was an answered prayer to their parents.

Dreams do come true.

We also gave a student who really wanted to overcome the fear of speaking the chance to express herself, and she did.

And when asked, she said that that fear died in her.

The school management couldn’t stop thanking us for the impacts made and for the hope that we have revived in the hearts of these ones.

While the preparation was on, considering the time frame and the deadlines set for each assignment given to the team members, we had some difficulties getting some things done, but with encouragement and impact in mind, everybody came together to achieve this goal.

We especially had difficulty getting more hands, but we didn’t keep quiet; the team members suggested names, and we reached out to these people, and they volunteered to be a part of this project.

Also in the area of finance, we had a high budget, and the time was short, so we wrote letters and also posted continuously online, requesting financial assistance, and God sent men to help us.

And this brings me to this statement: “If God gives you a vision, He will make provisions for it.” God so did it that at the end of everything we had a surplus.

Thank you so much to everyone who reached out to us in cash and in kind to support this project. Your pockets will not run dry. Amen!

We gave the attendees feedback forms to fill out to know if the programme has any impacts on them, and we got so much feedback.

The students talked about how they have been charged to love and believe in themselves and embrace themselves and that their gender as girls should never be a limitation.

Some of them couldn’t stop thanking the team for bringing this programme to them; some prayed and promised to be women who will make an impact in the future.

Some also made promises to work on their academics and take proper care of their healths.

These and more are the impacts recorded from this programme.

✓Scholarships were given to two students for a school session each.

✓Certificates were presented to the debaters.

✓Exercise books and pens were given to all the participants.

✓Affirmation stickers were placed on the souvenir bags to constantly remind them of who they are.

✓The students were given the opportunity to express themselves and step out to address the crowd.

✓The students were reminded of the greatness that resides inside of them and were given key steps into birthing that greatness.

✓The students were challenged into critical thinking during the games session and lots more.

This event took place only in one day, but I am convinced that its impact will never be forgotten and that these ones would never be girls who would be limited by the limitations the society has placed on the girl child.

Dear readers, please let’s always encourage initiatives that focus on impacting young people.

Remember, we are the future and hope of tomorrow.

Finally, I want to appreciate my team and the Daughters’ Dream Initiative team for making this dream to empower and impact the girl child come through.

Thank you, all.I’m honoured and thankful to God for the opportunity He gave me to lead this team.

This would not have been possible if it weren’t for the cooperation and dedication of my team members.

This is the beginning of greater things that the LORD will do.
